The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is seeking an exceptional educational leader to be its next Director of Career, Technical and Customized Education.  As the educational leader for one of the CCIU’s largest divisions, the Board desires a dynamic and innovative leader who has a strong academic background, experience managing an administrative team, and proven financial leadership. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong leadership in proactive decision-making and consensus building, and experience in managing and balancing a budget.

 

The CCIU board of directors, administrative team and partnering school districts are looking for a visionary leader that will provide our students with high-quality learning experiences that prepare them to be active 21st century citizens in a global society.

 

The CCIU Division of Career, Technical and Customized Education has an annual operating budget of over $30 million.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the career and technical education of over 2200 secondary students and adult learners enrolled in programs at one of three campuses of the Chester County Technical College High School. Three years superintendent or assistant superintendent experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Program Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, supervision and evaluation of all division programs, services and personnel.
  • Creates, manages and evaluates all division program budgets.
  • Ensures compliance of Chapter 4, Chapter 339 and other Department of Education regulations.
  • Approves the selection of division personnel.
  • Prepares strategic plans for the Technical College High Schools (TCHS) in compliance with Department of Education regulations.
  • Works cooperatively with other CCIU division directors to implement programs and services.
  • Attends local, regional and statewide meetings for Perkins consortiums, as well as regional and statewide CTCE administrator meetings.
  • Serves on boards and committees of countywide workforce development partners (Chester County Workforce Investment Board, Chester County Workforce Partners, Chester County CareerLink Partners and the Chester County Economic Development Council, the Smart Energy Initiative and Ag Industry Partnerships).
  • Regularly attends IU sponsored meetings for superintendents, curriculum directors, secondary principals and guidance counselors.
  • Supervises the CCIU Adult Practical Nursing Program and other adult programs involving division staff and facilities.

 

Benefits and Compensation

The CCIU is offering a multi-year contract that features a regionally competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.Candidates must possess, or be eligible for, a Pennsylvania Superintendent Letter of Eligibility.The target date for employment is July 1, 2022. Created in 1971 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the CCIU is a regional educational service agency that exists to provide quality, cost-effective services to the community and its residents.  The Chester County Intermediate Unit administers instructional, enrichment and administrative programs and services to Chester County’s 12 public school districts, and to over 45 private and parochial schools in the county serving over 90,000 students. These programs include instructional, remedial and enrichment services for regular and special education students and career and technical education programs for secondary and post-secondary students. The CCIU provides direct instruction to nearly 10,000 students a year and support services to an additional 30,000 students a year.

 In addition, the IU supports teachers, school administrators, school directors and school districts through a multitude of services, including, but not limited to: business and administrative services, communications services, technology services and human resources.  The diversity of CCIU programs enables IU staff to interact with school district personnel at all levels and to maintain a cohesive educational network throughout Chester County
