Assistant Principal

The Assistant Principal is directly responsible to the Principal.  This position is specifically responsible for maintaining discipline within the student population, the supervision and evaluation of selected faculty and the oversight of Professional Development activities.  This position falls within the Act 93 employee agreement.

REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Possess a valid Vocational Director Certificate.

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in a career technology center environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, students, parents, and community agencies/organizations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervision and evaluation techniques.

  • Energetic, creative and committed to promoting excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Job Description, Assistant Principal




General Summary

The Assistant Principal is directly responsible to the Principal. Education and Work Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervision and evaluation techniques.

Job Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Administer student discipline code (including suspension of students and recommendations for expulsion).

  • Supervise and evaluate instruction and staff of assigned programs.

  • Observe teachers and submit observation reports to the Principal.

  • Observe, supervise and evaluate substitute teachers as assigned.

  • Evaluate professional and non-professional staff.

  • Work as a member of the Administrative Team in a cooperative manner to recommend, develop and implement CTC policy.

  • Monitor daily attendance reporting and assure that attendance is reported (by faculty and substitute teachers) in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Participate in student, parent and teacher conferences. 

  • Implement the policies and directives of the JOC and Director.

  • Provide assistance in the development and supervision of the orientation and mentor programs for all new faculty.

  • Provide assistance in the development and supervision of in-service training programs for improving the quality of staff and instruction being provided.

  • Implement in-service programs and professional development activities.

  • Participation in selected Occupational Advisory Committees.

  • Assume duties of the Principal in his/her absence.

  • Maintain and distribute Student Handbook.

Job Description, Assistant Principal



  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and initiatives.

  • Provides assistance in the dissemination of information regarding CTC and its programs, policies and procedures to students, staff, parents and community.

  • Assist in development and maintenance of deep collaborations with sending schools.

  • Prepare and submit reports requested by the Director. (including confidential and proprietary information)

  • Assist in regulating use of school building and facilities by outside groups.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of CTE.

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or a minute amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push and pull items such as files.  May involve bending, reaching, stooping and lifting occasionally.
