Qualifications: High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent along with formal training in masonry or a related trade. Must have four years of full-time, wage-earning experience in the area of masonry. Experience shall include laying out jobs, read blueprints and estimate materials and cost. Must be familiar with cutting, chipping and laying of brick and concrete block, the mixing and spreading of mortar and other bonding agents, and the cutting and laying of ceramic tiles. Knowledge of tools such as trowels, jointers, hammers, levels, gauge line and squares. Must possess or be willing to purse a PA teaching certification (Mason/Masonry CIP 46.0101). A degree in construction or management experience with an emphasis in the masonry field is a plus; teaching and/or youth experience preferred; computer proficiency required.

Position Goal: The masonry position instructs skills involved in the cutting, chipping and laying of brick and concrete block, the mixing and spreading of mortar and other bonding agents, and the cutting and laying of ceramic tiles. All necessary tools used in the trade and their safe use are instructed. Students completing the program will be prepared for work, apprenticeships, or continue in a post-secondary program. Students have the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge by helping with the construction of a custom-built home under the direction of their instructors.

Work schedule: The normal workday is Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 3:15 pm, 7 ¾ hours. The day includes a 30-minute duty free lunch. 10-months (190 days/year). This includes six (6) evening functions per school year equaling three (3) contractual workdays). Two days per month, there will be up to an additional fifteen (15) minutes added to the workday for faculty meetings.
