The Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center (GACTC) needs your help transforming today’s youth and adults into tomorrow’s skilled workforce. We are excited to announce the following opportunities to become part of our incredible team:


POSTSECONDARY POSTIONS

Postsecondary Practical Nursing Program Coordinator and Instructor
Interested candidates should be passionate about training adult students preparing for careers in the practical nursing profession. The selected candidate will have knowledge of both theory and practice in the practical nursing profession. Primary responsibilities include oversight of program curriculum, clinical practicums, and student retention. The selected candidate will provide supervisory and fiscal management of the daily operations of the program, including supervision of nursing faculty and support staff. The practical nursing coordinator will lead planning and development efforts related to program curriculum and collaborate with administration on recruitment efforts. The selected candidate will teach clinical and/or didactic courses as needed.

Qualifications include the following:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in nursing. The PA State Board of Nursing requires nurse program coordinators hold a master’s degree. A master’s degree is preferred, or evidence of ability to complete a master’s degree must be provided.
• Graduation from an approved school of professional nursing, and current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• Experience and skill in the practice of nursing involving direct patient care.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
This is a full-time position. Hours include day, evening, and weekend.


Financial Aid Officer
Interested candidates must be knowledgeable and experienced in administration of student financial aid programs, including, but not limited to, federal and state student financial aid. The selected candidate must have excellent communication skills in order to relay complex information, both verbally and in writing, to students and their families to guide them through the financial aid process. The Financial Aid Officer is a key member of the post-secondary operations of the GACTC and will collaborate with internal and external constituents. The selected candidate will have a working knowledge of financial aid programs and related regulations and reporting requirements. The Financial Aid Officer will develop and implement internal controls necessary to ensure compliance and administration of financial aid programs.

Qualifications include the following:
• Experience working in post-secondary financial aid.
• Knowledge of federal and state student financial aid programs.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and student information systems, with preference given to those with knowledge of financial aid packaging applications.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
This is a full-time, management position with full benefits, primarily working day hours.


PROFESSIONAL SECONDARY TEACHING POSITIONS


Emergency Services Instructor – School Year/9 Month
FT secondary teaching position. Minimum of four years of verifiable industry experience required.
Interested candidates should a have a passion for training the next generation of safety service professionals. This individual will be teaching an evolving curriculum related to the fields of law enforcement, firefighting, EMT, and other services. Responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, and maintaining competency in their instructional field.
Preference will be given to those who possess related industry certifications. Pennsylvania teacher certification a plus or college courses leading to certification will be required. Logon on to www.gactc.edu/Domain/42 for program information.
Multimedia & Web Design Instructor – School Year/9 Month
FT secondary teaching position. Minimum of four years of verifiable industry experience required.

This individual will be teaching an evolving curriculum related to print, website, and video production. Responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, and maintaining competency in their instructional field.

OTHER POSITIONS

Instructional Assistant – Automotive - School Year/9 Month
Instructional Assistant – Welding and/or Precision Machining- School Year/9 Month

Interested candidates should be excited to work alongside GACTC’s expert instructional staff and share their knowledge of the automotive industry with high school students. The individual chosen will possess entry level skill in the field and have a demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices. Responsibilities include assisting in student supervision, ensuring professional standards are demonstrated, and reinforcing the instructor’s lessons. Preference will be given to individuals with strong references and work experiences. These are FT, 9-month, assistant positions with full benefits.

Phlebotomy Instructor – Part-time
Interested candidates should be passionate about training adult students preparing for a career as a phlebotomy technician. The selected candidate will have knowledge of both theory and practice in the phlebotomy technician profession and be comfortable with providing instruction in the classroom and clinical lab settings. A minimum of three years of performing the functions of a phlebotomist is preferred and teaching experience is also preferred. Preference given to candidates credentialed in good standing as a phlebotomist or phlebotomy technician by National Healthcare Association (NHA) or able to obtain credential upon hire. This part-time position is primarily evening and/or weekend hours.
