Effective August 2020, a vacancy for a combination secondary Instructor of Precision CNC Machining and Adult Education Welding and Fabrication Instructor exists within the Division of Career, Technical and Customized Education of the Chester County Intermediate Unit at the Technical College High School Pickering campus in Phoenixville, PA.
Qualifications:
• Possess valid Pennsylvania Department of Education (Vocational I or II) Certificate or qualify to enroll in a certification program, and have successfully completed the appropriate Occupational Competency Assessment. In addition to the minimum PDE certification requirements, the candidate should possess relevant industry certifications.
• Must be able to use computers for grade management, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet applications and other applications necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position. All instructors at the TCHS must have an adaptable and flexible perspective. The programs are often shared with post secondary institutions, requiring a strong team philosophy. Must be able to share program space and material.

In addition to the minimum certification requirements, the ideal candidate should possess
• Experience in computer-controlled systems for manufacturing applications and have a strong background in manufacturing, math, and physics preferred.
• Experience in basic engineering principles and technical skills in both the mechanical and electrical fields
• Experience with relevant software
• Preferred experience in technical knowledge, skills, and processes of various types of welding
• Preferred experience in a secondary educational setting or high school setting preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide quality occupational instruction to students grades 9-12, in engineering and automated manufacturing technology skill competencies.
• Plan and develop curriculum and daily lesson plans incorporating industry approved standards skills based on the PA Department of Education approved curriculum. Monitor and assess students theory and skill performance based on tests, quizzes, projects and means of formative assessment.
• Maintain accurate records related to student achievement, attendance and other systems of measuring student performance using computer technology.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress, conduct, attendance and other matters of performance related skills.
• Other assignments requested by the principal or designee.
Salary Range:
$49,559 - 81,214 - Emergency/Intern Cert.; $51,181 - 83,466 - Vocational I Cert.; $53,464 - 86,855 - Vocational II Cert.
Schedule:
7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 10:30am - 7pm, 194 days during the school year (mid/end of August through early/mid June). This is a regular, on going teaching position that will happen each school year.
