Director of Facilities

LCCTC is seeking a Director of Facilities who will be responsible for establishing and administering procedures for building and grounds maintenance, building systems, custodial, safety and utilities.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Establish and administer short and long range plans and procedures for the ongoing maintenance and custodial care of the buildings and grounds
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of the HVAC, heating plant, hot water, fire protection, security, school vehicle, and lighting systems
  • Direct the maintenance and overall appearance of building grounds including mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, etc.
  • Direct work on snow removal and maintenance of sidewalks, parking areas, and driveways
  • Hire outside contractors to perform special services as required and oversee projects to successful completion
  • Oversee safety programs as it relates to workplace safety
  • Manage housing construction and other minor construction projects
  • Maximize productivity by establishing efficient cleaning processes and schedules.
  • Assist the Business Manager in developing a Facilities Budget and monitors the budget as it compares to actual expenses
  • Interacts with Joint Operating Committee (JOC) on matters pertaining to budget, construction updates, bid awards, and general information regarding operations


  • Inspect the buildings, periodically, to assure that all equipment and systems are in good working order and that building and grounds are clean and neat in appearance
  • Develops work order system needed to ensure district building and grounds maintenance
  • Select and purchase all maintenance and custodial supplies and equipment and maintain inventory controls
  • Administer a preventative maintenance schedule for all building systems and related equipment
  • Develop bid specifications for all building related projects
  • Look for and recommend cost-saving measures including looking for energy conservation
  • Make sure district is in compliance with all security, water and sewer, Right-to-Know, and MSDS data regulations.
  • Responds to emergencies, may be required to be available on 24-hour call for the purpose of determining and implementing appropriate actions required to resolve situations.
  • Establish and maintain a file of blueprints, building specifications, etc. for buildings.


  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff to achieve a high performing team using in-service training programs, evaluations of employee performance, staff meetings and proactive communication.
  • Evaluate and anticipate knowledge and skill needs and ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet them
  • Coordinate internal work activities across areas to provide seamless custodial and maintenance services
  • Initiates assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of custodial and maintenance personnel.
  • Perform evaluations for Custodians and Maintenance, in conjunction with Principals.

School Safety and Security Coordination

  • In cooperation with the Assistant Administrative Director review the school entity’s policies and procedures relative to school safety and security and compliance with federal and state laws regarding school safety and security.
  • In collaboration with the Building Principals, coordinate training and resources for students and staff in matters relating to situational awareness, trauma-informed education awareness, behavioral health awareness, suicide and bullying awareness, substance abuse awareness and emergency procedures and training drills, including fire, natural disaster, active shooter, hostage situations and bomb threat.
  • Coordinate school safety and security assessments as necessary
  • Serve as the school entity liaison with the Safety Committee, PDE, law enforcement and other organizations on matters of school safety and security; Reporting directly to the Assistant Administrative Directors in this capacity.
  • Make a report annually, no later than June 30, in executive session to the JOC on the current safety and security practices that identify strategies for improvement.
  • Inspect and maintain fire alarm system and fire extinguishers on a regularly-scheduled time frame
  • Coordinate a tour of the school entity’s buildings and grounds biennially or when a building is first occupied or reconfigured with the law enforcement agencies and first responders that are primarily responsible for protecting and securing the school entity to discuss and coordinate school safety and security matters.

Salary  $70,000-$85,000 DOE

Reports to:  Business Manager

gerEducation & Experience

  • 3 -5 years of supervisory experience
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Sewage plan operator’s license preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC and heating plant systems
  • Knowledge of electrical and plumbing
  • Knowledge of the IBC code and other regulations related to this position
  • Knowledge of water and air quality issues
  • Knowledge of grounds keeping
  • Knowledge of safety and security
  • Knowledge of building construction
  • Bachelors Degree in related field a plus.
