Position Summary

Under the direction of the school principal and Career and Technical Education director, the teacher in this position will instruct the students in the Career & Technical Education Machine Operations program. Instruction in this program will prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills in all aspects of shaping metal parts.

In addition, the instructor will prepare students to obtain certification in the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

Qualifications

  • PossessorbeeligibletoobtainaPennsylvaniaVocationalEducationTeachingCertificatewithMachineShop 2043Certification
  • Five (5) years of recent (within the last (7) years) trade based or equivalent full-time employment directly relatedtoMachineOperationsispreferred(teachingexperienceinthisareaisacceptable),butaminimum of two years wage-earning experience in addition to the learning period in Machine Practice is mandated. Experience with CNC/ advanced machining and NIMS certifications ispreferred.
  • Exhibitexcellentwritten,oralandinterpersonalskillsandtheabilitytoworkwithdemandingtimelinesand produce qualityproducts.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with otherstaff
  • Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office applications, e-mail, Web applications, and industry-specifictechnology

  • Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office applications, e-mail, Web applications, and industry-specific technology planning and tailoring units of study according to curriculum guidelines and state requirements; monitor, assist with, and correct academic efforts.
  • Demonstrate correct practicalprocedures.
  • Prepare lesson plans that encourage and foster proficient oral and written expression, critical thinking andapplications.
  • Provide rigorous and relevant instruction on approved hands-on curriculum in the content area and workplacereadiness.
  • Understand and apply effective strategies and best practices to ensure studentsuccess.
  • Administer a variety of student assessmenttools.

  • Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, material, andfacilities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by district guidelines and statelaws.
  • Train students to successfully pass a variety of industrialcertifications.
  • Support student participation in Career and Technical StudentOrganizations.
  • Maintain and update required industrycertifications.
  • Participate in district and school-based professional development activities and staffmeetings.
  • Develop and maintain positive and cooperative interactions and communications with parents, colleaguesand community.
  • Collaborate with core content teachers on common instructional objectives, integration and alignment ofacademic standards.
  • Involvement in professional organizations and community relationspreferred.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all polices and rules governing student life andconduct.
  • Manage classroombehavior.
  • Participate in Occupational Advisory Committee meetings for theprogram.
