Job Description: The York County School of Technology is seeking a highly skilled professional to teach in our high school Automotive Technology program, starting with the 2024-2025 school year. The individual hired to this position must have at least four years of full-time, paid experience in the automotive field and hold appropriate industry credentials. PA CTE teaching certification in the Automotive Technician content area is preferred. Candidates without teaching certification will be required to complete a certification program through Penn State.
Students in the Automotive Technology program are instructed in a variety of skills and competency areas. They will Instruct students in grades 9-12 in the servicing and maintenance of all types of automobiles and light trucks. This includes diagnosis, testing, and computer analysis of engines, fuel, electrical, cooling, and brake systems as well as drive train and suspension systems. Instruction is also given in the adjustment and repair of individual components and systems and includes state inspection procedures.
Students will have the opportunity to earn industry credentials prior to graduation, including:
PA Safety and I/M Inspections
ASE Certifications
Snap-On Certifications
OSHA and NOCTI credentials
All teachers are responsible for lesson planning, maintaining accurate records of student progress and grades, creating a positive classroom learning environment, and classroom behavior management. Technical teachers also develop connections with local businesses and outside organizations to build an Advisory Committee and build opportunities for internships and job placements.
