Strategic Plan

Goal 1
Promote quality practices in career and technical education.
  1. Provide assistance to increase the number of Career and Technical Education schools receiving accreditation, registration of recognition through outside agencies.
    1. Assist agencies to publicize and improve their services.
    2. Provide information on accreditation options to member schools.
    3. Encourage PACTA members to serve on accreditation teams.
  2. Provide assistance to increase the number of Career and Technical Education programs meeting the requirements of State Board of Education Chapter 4 Regulations and Chapter 339 Standards.
    1. Provide information and resources to PACTA members.
    2. Provide professional development to PACTA members.
    3. Establish Committee to plan for creation of Technical Institutes.
Goal 2
Collaborate to enhance the role of career and technical education.
  1. Improve familiarity and cooperation among PACTA members.
    1. Publish annual membership directory.
    2. Establish Web page.
  2. Foster partnerships with other education associations, workforce development associations, business and industry associations, and governmental agencies.
    1. Strengthen existing partnerships.
    2. Identify and build relationships with new partners.
Goal 3
Provide professional growth opportunities for members.
  1. Offer professional development activities that respond to identified needs of members.
    1. Offer conferences, workshops, and study tours based on member Act 48 survey.
    2. Offer workshops based on the needs of members' administrative responsibilities.
  2. Provide opportunities for members to develop leadership skills.
    1. Encourage members to serve on PACTA committees.
    2. Provide mentors for members beginning new employment positions.
    3. Provide opportunities for members to represent PACTA.
Goal 4
Advocate the critical role of career and technical education in quality education and workforce development.
  1. Market the value and benefits of career and technical education.
    1. Develop and implement a plan to market career and technical education.
    2. Provide members with resources to assist them in marketing career and technical education.
  2. Promote policy and legislative actions that increase access to career and technical education.
    1. Develop and implement an annual state legislative agenda.
    2. Develop and implement an annual state legislative action plan.
    3. Coordinate Pennsylvania participation in national legislative activities.
Goal 5
Establish an organizational structure and staffing pattern that support strategic goals and objectives.
  1. Review and restructure organization.
    1. Revise committee structure to reflect strategic plan.
    2. Review the organization's name.
    3. Establish a set of performance standards for the organization.
    4. Establish a menu of services available from the organization.
  2. Review and plan for the financial stability of the organization.
    1. Establish a revenue growth plan.
    2. Revise the membership dues structure.
    3. Acquire resources to support the functions and services provided by the organization.
